During term 3 we will focus on the following 4 areas:
Journal Writing:
- Please bring a scribbler to keep your journal prompts in. Marks will be allotted for having one.
- After we have completed 10 entries I will collect them for a completion mark and make observations. This is not a qualitative mark. These will be due April 27/28
- After you get your journals back, we will begin to craft 1 of your entries for a more complete assessment (grammar, structure, vocab., engagement) Date to be announced (TBA)
Independent Reading:
- The idea here is that you will bring something you'd like to read with you every class.
- This may NOT be a text book.
- This CAN be a novel either of your own choice or for a class (as long as you ENJOY it.)
- This CAN be NON-FICTION too.
- I will give homework checks to see you have your readings. Failure to bring your book will get you an assignment to do instead.
Assigned work:
- Just now, we are working on the end of our Media/current events/journalism/bias unit.
- You are writing an inverted form article. rough draft due at the end of next class. Mar. 31/April 3.
- Next we will begin to focus on oracy/speech writing and/or dramatization of ideas.
Time for Homework and teacher help:
- We will continue to retain the last half hour for homework and tutorial time.
